GEO5 : Shallow Foundations

Bearing capacity and settlement of spread footing, strip footing and slabs.

GEO5 contains programs for design of rectangular and circular spread footings, strip foundations, and foundation slabs of a general shape. Not only the software allows

to verify the bearing capacity and settlement, but also reinforcement of an RC structure.

Programs for Shallow Foundation Design

The GEO5 Spread Footing program is used for isolated footing and strip footing design (including spread footing with haunch bearing capacity). It enables verification of bearing capacity of a foundation on both, drained and undrained soil and rock subsoil. The program also calculates the settlement and rotation of the foundation and allows designing reinforcement for the foundation.

Program GEO5 Slab is designated for analysis of foundation mats and slabs on elastic subsoil. The program uses the Winkler-Pasternak model and is able to calculate C1 and C2 constants from deformation properties of soil – piles can be model as springs.

Internal forces and deformations of strip foundation can be calculated by program GEO5 Beam. Program allows

to calculate values of C1, C2 from input soil profile.

It is also possible to verify some problems (eg. circular force) using the finite element method in the GEO5 FEM program using axisymetry.
